Context
The Training Program in Business Analytics in Tourism was developed as part of the Accelerate and Transform Tourism (ATT) initiative and aims to equip professionals in the tourism sector with strategic and analytical skills to drive innovation, digitization, and sustainability.
The program combines management, data analytics, and business intelligence applied to tourism and smart destination management.
Challenge
To promote the digital and strategic transformation of the tourism sector in Portugal, integrating data analytics, business intelligence, and smart destination management approaches into decision-making and operational processes.
Objectives
- Develop skills in strategic management and data-driven innovation
- Apply analytics and forecasting tools to specific challenges in the tourism sector
- Design practical and innovative solutions that strengthen the competitiveness and efficiency of organizations
Structure
68-hour blended program, distributed as follows:
- Theoretical component: 48 hours, with core modules in strategy, leadership, marketing, business intelligence, and smart destinations, complemented by optional units in sustainability, startups, data analysis, and generative artificial intelligence
- Practical component: 20 hours, within the scope of the Data-Driven Innovation Academy, based on design thinking and problem-solving methodologies, culminating in the public presentation of projects at NOVA IMS
Pedagogical model
Blended learning model (online and in-person), integrating design thinking, collaborative teamwork, and analysis of real cases from the tourism sector.
The training is provided by professors and specialists from NOVA IMS and Porto Business School, ensuring a multidisciplinary and applied approach.
Results
Empowering professionals and organizations in the tourism sector with tools to enhance operational efficiency, strategic use of data, and personalization of the visitor experience, contributing to the sustainable transformation of the sector. (Program ongoing.)
